Algeria Starts Building Key Stretch of Major African Gas Pipeline
The announcement came during the fifth ministerial meeting of the TSGP Steering Committee held in Algiers, which brought together energy ministers from Algeria, Nigeria, Niger, and other participating countries.
Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab said that the countries involved had reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation to ensure the project’s successful completion.
The Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline is planned to stretch about 4,128 kilometers, designed to transport up to 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year from Nigeria, passing through Niger, and reaching Algeria’s Mediterranean coast for export to European markets.
